The tax identification Code (Codice fiscale) identifies citizens in their interaction with the Italian Public Administration/Authorities. Foreigner students, even if temporarily residing in Italy, are required to have this Code for different purposes, as for example to obtain a residence permit, to register for the National Health Service, to rent an apartment, to request a telephone line/mobile SIM card, to open a bank account, etc. For more information you can visit the Revenue Agency website and download the relevant AA4/8 Form to be filled in, or contact the International Relations office of the School in order to receive all the directions and the translated AA4/8 Form so to speed up the procedure and bring directly the documents to the Revenue Agency local offices in Florence.

Non-EU citizens must also prove that they have the right to stay, even temporarily, in Italy.
Citizens of European Union may apply for the tax identification number to any office of the Italian Revenue Agency showing, along with the request for the assignment, a valid identification document (identity card or passport).
What to do in case of incorrect data on the tax identification number card
In case of incorrect data showed on the tax identification number card, a replacement must be required to any office of the Italian Revenue Agency, showing a valid identification document.
What to do in case of loss or theft
You can request a duplicate of the tax identification number by filling the request online.
As an alternative, you can request it directly to a territorial office of the Italian Revenue Agency.
